Welcome to the Colin O'Kane Foundation
The Colin O’Kane Foundation was established in 2017 to honor the memory of Colin O’Kane, standout lacrosse player and coach from San Jose who died suddenly at 25 from undiagnosed hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). This site is intended to provide background on Colin and to help raise money to send boys and girls to lacrosse camps, raise funds for the Colin O’Kane ~ Annual Sonoma State Lacrosse Scholarship along with supporting men and women firefighters in the state of California and research into hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).

2021-2022 We are so proud to award Zach Bonilla and Casey Hoops this year‘s Colin O’Kane ~ Sonoma State scholarship. These student athletes exhibit an extraordinary work ethic, have a strong interest in the overall community, consistently display exceptional character, and maintain an incoming or cumulative minimum 3.0 GPA. Sonoma State Lacrosse has been always about family. I was so excited and to see the camaraderie and enthusiasm of all the players. We look forward to support the team throughout the year and I hope to increase the scholarship amount every year. We wish Coach Hewitt and the team the very best in 2021-2022 The Colin O’Kane Lacrosse Scholarship (“Fund”) is intended to provide support for Sonoma State University lacrosse team student athletes, who are pursuing an undergraduate degree.
